From the Founder

Hi, and thank you for being here.

Before you shop, I’d love to share the heart behind this brand and why it was created.

M.U.D. — Muddy Beginnings® is more than apparel to me. It is a reflection of my journey and a celebration of the journeys we all carry.

My hope is that every design serves as a beacon of hope for those who are surviving, healing, becoming, rebuilding, reshaping, or thriving through life’s challenges. We all have a story, and sometimes those stories begin in places we would never choose for ourselves.

I am an Atlanta native, born to a teenage mother who was only 13 years old. I grew up without knowing my father and spent much of my childhood searching for identity, belonging, and purpose. During my teenage years, I was primarily raised by my grandmother. Although I am forever grateful for her love and sacrifice, I often struggled with feelings of abandonment, confusion, and uncertainty about who I was and who I was meant to become.

As I entered adulthood, I searched for meaning and security in relationships, hoping they would fill the voids I carried. Shortly after graduating high school, I became a mother at 18 years old. While that relationship ended, it brought one of the greatest blessings of my life—my first child.

Several years later, I became a mother again. Believing I was beginning a new chapter filled with promises of marriage, stability, and family, I hoped life was finally falling into place. Unfortunately, things did not unfold the way I had planned. Once again, I found myself raising children as a single mother while trying to build a career and create a better future for my family.

I entered the banking industry determined to create stability and opportunity. Looking back, much of my drive came from a desire to prove that my circumstances would not define me. I wanted to prove to myself that I was capable, worthy, and destined for more than the limitations of my beginnings.

Over the next 17 years, I built a successful career in banking, but the greatest growth wasn’t professional—it was personal.

When I stopped searching for love and focused on becoming whole, love found me.

Today, I am blessed to be married to an incredible husband for more than 10 years, and together we have built a beautiful, blended family with four children. Through faith, perseverance, and God’s grace, I have learned that our struggles do not have the final say. Often, they become the very tools that shape us into who we are meant to be.

That realization became the foundation of M.U.D. — Muddy Beginnings®.

This brand is built on the belief that it is not about where your story started. It is about who you become through the process.

Like clay in the hands of a potter, I believe God takes our disappointments, setbacks, broken pieces, mistakes, and pain and molds them into something meaningful. What begins as mud can become something beautiful. What begins as struggle can become strength. What begins as a setback can become a testimony.

If it had not been for God, I would not be who I am today. Time and time again, He has taken the difficult chapters of my life and worked them together for my good. For that, I am forever grateful.

M.U.D. — Muddy Beginnings® was created to inspire people to grow beyond what they’ve been through, keep the faith through difficult seasons, and wear their stories with confidence.

More importantly, it was created to build a community—one that celebrates resilience, redemption, perseverance, and transformation. Through our apparel, we hope to recognize and honor the journeys of others while reminding them that their story has value, purpose, and power.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth doesn’t have a finish line.

I am not sharing my story because I’ve mastered life or because I have all the answers. I’m sharing it because I am still becoming. I am still learning, still growing, still reaching, and still trusting God with each new chapter.

M.U.D. — Muddy Beginnings® is not a celebration of perfection. It is a celebration of progress.

And I hope that wherever you are on your journey, you’ll find encouragement to keep moving forward too.

“The mud wasn’t the end of my story. It was the beginning of who I would become.”

Because your beginning does not define your ending.

And sometimes the most beautiful things grow from the mud.
